I own a 2019 Sorento SXL. I ran an update yesterday thinking it was loading only updated Navigation info. Instead it changed not only the navigation info, but completely changed the format of my other screens. The colors are different with no way to change them. The formats no longer match my manual. The radio menu used to list all my preset stations on the left side of the screen, are now at the bottom in much smaller size and hard to read. The icons are much smaller and hard to read, and the general format is terrible. Now I am being told there is no way to return to the old format. So much for quality and customer service. The old version was very high in quality and easy to understand. It made the other brands envious. My wife's Toyota Highlander didn't have nearly as much information and she constantly compliment Kia for its design. Now she just laughs and says Kia's quality in their Info System is beneath that of its competitors. Kia should have displayed its new format first and then allow the customer to decide which version it preferred.

Hello Jim, thank you for making your opinion known about the updates changes. We are sorry to hear that the changes are so frustrating for you. Unfortunately, we did not have a voice in the interface changes that were made to the software in the vehicle as we produce the navigation data. I do apologize for the inconvenience. We are hoping with enough feedback from customers that Hyundai and Kia will reverse the changes that they made in a future update. Thank you for your patience.

I own a 2019 Sorento EX. I agree 100% with Jim's post. The new Radio interface is terrible. It is actually a safety hazard in addition to being awkward to use. This is because the small presets spread along the bottom of the screen are hard to read and harder to reach compared to when they were all vertically stacked on the left closer to the driver. They also only show the station number. With all the possible presets from AM, FM, and SXM do the programers seriously think we have memorized what they are?? Also some of the info on the screen is grey. This is impossible to see when driving on a bright sunny day. This new display requires a longer more concentrated look by the driver to make changes while driving. This creates a longer time when the driver's attention is not on the road. NOT GOOD! This needs to be fixed ASAP! If you want a suggestion for improvement, go back to the old display and make it possible to drag and drop presets where you want them to enable easy sorting. If not just go back to the old display it WAS one of the best available.

I just got my 2019 SX Sorento and the dealer updated this. It works but nothing to write home about. Having used a number of system this is far from stellar. FM & SiriusXM buttons aren't intuitive nor can I group channels as in any other head unit for location I am in, such as AM, FM and a Sat Radio group. Its all bundled together and distracting my driving if I try and navigate or change. The NAV is still so far behind my 5 or more year old Garmin GPS. On this it STILL DOES NOT LABEL OR SHOW 99% of the street names I am approaching regardless of view. Even when in NAV guidance mode lines unnamed is standard. Occasionally the name appears when I am right at it (useless at that point or after I turn onto it). I hoped it would be better. I have a NAV system in a 2015 Sorento SX as well and its the same but screen poorer. You put white street lines onto an almost white background. DAHHH Who the heck is the dumb ass looking at these combos. Fortunately I can change the screen background in the 2019 which had the same issue and is better but not by much. Also guidance does not reconfigure to a new route when you go past the specified turn. It goes on relentlessly trying to force you back even while showing the newer possible route. You need a update fixing a lot of functionality which is totally overlooked for years!! Its shocking these very expensive units have such horrible software. Garmin should provide vehicle NAV software and we'd be happier by a long shot. I doubt you even listen. But I mentioned some issues leaving the Audio sound problems out for now.

If we bring anything up to Kia there come back is they have nothing to do with it and send us to YOU. You're the source of the software package as well. Some have had their heads bricked doing them. Also the printed owner manual on this in my glove box not longer resembles any part of the system what so ever. No PDF update appears available which is should with the massive change done. I have rear Sub Woofer but no level control for it and its barely audible even when right by it. LOL Bass was quite low and I found out from my dealer about it. Its working but not so you'd hear it unless within 3 feet when its quiet as well.

I'm now the owner of a '19 Sorento SX and I updated the nav while on the road driving the car back home. A couple of improvements, but overall, for '19s, I believe this is a great step backward. Most annoying: You can no longer enter addresses or POI names while the car is moving. This was enabled on my '17 Sorento, including the latest nav update for that model year. One of the big selling points of the nav (to me) was that you could enter changes in your destination on the fly while moving along. Not really any less safe than fiddling with the radio while driving. "Abundance of caution" strikes again. POIs are suddenly extremely rare on screen. I have POI display activated for gas stations, all restaurants, and all hotels. Where my '17's updated system showed an average of 2-10 POI icons at an intersection, I'm lucky to see a single POI at an intersection with this '19 model update. Searching for a POI name more than in the state you're currently in is abysmal. The system no longer asks you for the state you're searching for, and it seems to restrict its radius to 250 miles or so. Voice navigation is ATROCIOUS compared to the '17's system. You can only save station presets using the "Favorites" feature, and you can only save stations in channel order. That's downright moronic. Many have bemoaned the purple color scheme, but that's a minor niggle IMO compared to the other significant steps backward.

I just updated my 2013 Sorento with the latest. I like almost everything, except the contrast between the color of the roads (white) and the background (light gray) makes it very difficult to see the streets on the screen. And unfortunately, the screen/unit I have doesn't allow for changing the contrast. So next update, please do something about that so that the streets are easier to see against the background. Thanks.

After a lot of use of the NAV now. I find a few Major Issues. - side roads of hwys or secondary roads are NOT labeled. Cannot be seen and in some case are cut just off the screen. Town, city streets also remain unlabeled !!! Sometime changing the zoom level allows some to appear. However I cannot be fiddling with this while driving constantly. Absurd to be missing names - the NAV repeatly want to take me off main highways and on back roads including many being gravel. Done that twice as I followed it not know where I should be going. I don't want to used secondary or back country roads unnecessarily. There is no option to deactivate that. The options to select route isn't helpful as roadway is not clear enough.
